Challenge: There may be a requirement to demarcate or signify special areas in a bus, train or ship, e.g. wheelchair or pram areas, or emergency exits. Or there may be a wish to incorporate a logo at an entranceway. Solution! Altro’s precision cutting service allows a design to be cut out in a different colour of the same non-slip material as the surrounding floor and cut into a matching ‘hole’ in the designated area. The insert is then welded into place, ensuring that there are no open joins which might allow water to penetrate the subfloor. The design becomes integral with the floor - it wears at the same rate and cannot rub off or become smooth. Designing signs and logos. As a general rule, the fewer the joints in a floor the better (and more cost efficient) so inserted shapes should be introduced judiciously.
