Impermeability - Eliminating
water ingress
The
fundamental challenge for any flooring system in
moving vehicles is preventing water, or any other
fluid or gas, from penetrating the subfloor where
it may become trapped and cause decay. The difficulty
is especially acute in climates that are wet or
humid, and on water vehicles, which operate in permanently
wet conditions.

PVC flooring is impermeable
- it will not allow water to pass through it in
any direction. But there is always a danger that
water can penetrate imperfectly applied joints and/or
unfinished vertical edges. We have developed products
-
stair nosings and
welding rods - which, properly installed, become
an integral, seamless, part of the floor.
We will advise on how to design to take account
of vulnerable areas, such as entrances and joints,
and on adhesives
and installation
techniques which significantly reduce the likelihood
of water ingress, all without compromising the good
looks of the overall design. |
