Question: What type of tools and equipment are required?
Answer: The tools required are standard equipment. You will need:
Cutting: Standard trimming knife with straight, curved or hook blades and a straight-edge
Applying adhesives: Notched trowels
Ensuring thorough adhesion: Rollers and weights to ensure proper bonding
Seam grooving: Hand grooving tool, or electric seam groover
Welding seams: Hot air welding gun and nozzles
Welding seams: Spatula to trim welding rod flush
Question: How do we really know that your flooring is "easy to clean"?
Answer: Independent test results have shown that Altro Transflor High Performance safety flooring leads the way in terms of cleanability.
Thanks to the Altro Original Easyclean Technology, all its safety flooring products are easier to clean without compromising slip resistant properties or durability.
Extensive, independent field trials were conducted as part of the company’s constant programme of research and development to evaluate the performance of Easyclean technology - a ground-breaking innovation that has proved a huge success since its launch five years ago.
In the tests conducted by Cleaning Research International, Altro flooring scored higher than nine other safety vinyls for both cleanability and resistance to soiling. These included some products which major competitors claimed incorporated easier maintenance features.

Answer: Altro Transflor special designs and non-standard sizes tend to be project based and created in collaboration with the client. Based on the requirements of the project, we can hold stock locally and/or globally.
Question: What is the best way to clean Altro Transflor products?
Answer: Regular cleaning of Altro Transflor is essential. There are two cleaning cycles - an ideal schedule uses both:
Regular maintenance
Deep (Scrub) cleaning.
Sweep or vacuum aisles daily
Wet clean aisles weekly
Major overall clean every three months including stain treatment
If maintenance is sporadic, flooring can be restored using the deep (scrub) clean procedure and applying very concentrated solutions of cleaning agents. If in any doubt about any aspect of cleaning Altro Transflor, please contact your local Altro Transit office.
Question: Which adhesives products do Altro recommend?
Answer:
For plywood subfloors, steel and aluminium subfloors use acrylic adhesive or approved contact cement.
For areas of water spillage, extreme temperature changes or heavy rolling loads use water resistant contact adhesive or 2-part polyurethane.
For cap strips, cove formers and vertical surfaces use approved contact adhesive.
Water-based spray adhesive and solvent base spray adhesive are also available.
SPRAYING ADHESIVES
Mask painted surfaces from overspray.
Place cut flooring in desired position.
Gently fold one half of flooring back and spray approved adhesive on flooring and subfloor as advised by supplier.
Unfold and apply the flooring to the subfloor, pressing down firmly to ensure full adhesion.
Repeat this process with the second half of the flooring.
TROWELING ADHESIVES
Place cut flooring in desired position.
Gently fold one half of flooring back and spread approved adhesives on exposed subfloor only, following manufacturer’s timings and instructions fully.
Unfold and apply the flooring to the subfloor, pressing down firmly to ensure full adhesion.
Repeat this process with the second half of the flooring.
FINISHING
To ensure flooring has 100% contact with adhesive, roll with a heavy roller to remove trapped air.
Push air bubble to the edges using a hand roller.
Finally, trim around wheel wells and perimeter of the floor.
N.B. When laying flooring, check that seams are cut straight and exactly butt together.
Do not pressure fit or allow gaps at seams or butt factory edges.

Question: Can we overlay Altro Transflor material over existing floor covering?
Answer: It is preferable to start with a clean, dust-free, smooth sub-floor. Laying Altro Transflor over an existing covering can be complex. Our recommendation is to contact your local representative for on-site advice.
Question: What is the best method of applying adhesive in a small area, not more than 4m2?
Answer: We recommend the use of spray adhesives to address this question - with spray adhesive you only use what you need.
Question: Is a colour mastic and welding rod chart available?
Answer: Our mastics and welding rod are an exact match of the flooring, if you have specific requirements for a colour contrast or colour match we can send a sample of the chosen colour to you.
Question: Can we use Altro Transflor on top decks of boats (exterior use)?
Answer: Altro Transflor products are not designed for exterior use, because of the possibility of discoloration from UV light.
