Altro have introduced a new welding nozzle to complement
the 5mm standard nozzle that is normally used for welding Altro Safety
Flooring.
The new nozzle will be known as “Cove” nozzle.
The 4mm nozzle will no longer be available from Altro, as it is possible to weld
4mm welding rod using the standard 5mm welding nozzle.

In the
past, the standard 5mm nozzle has been used to weld joints
on the coving as well as the straight floor joints.

For many years experienced fitters have been altering the angle
of the welding gun tip to help them approach the cove joints
from a lower level. In addition to this, some of them would file
off the heel of the speed weld nozzle and turn up the toe, thus
allowing them to weld around the curve of the cove. This method
also avoids the heel scraping the bottom of the cove where it
levels out onto the floor. The new “Cove” nozzle
is shaped to the curve of the cove, thus making it easy to use
and to produce a neat weld on the cove.
